I have a black VRSCR. I have had it now for almost 2 mo. I was wondering what everyone else has been doing to it other than ridding it. Just looking for more ideas.

thanks

im on my second rear tire. ive replaced the mirrors, a gils box, heavycycles tail light and started the long road to powderkoting the bare aluminum parts.
i need new front brake rotors, as they are warped so bad i can hardly ride it. i wonder if this is going to be an issue with the brembo aka bimbo brakes.
a lot of people dont like the "dogs butt", but on this bike i think it would look funky without it. too big a gap between the fender and the rear tire. it would have that "woods bike" look. im going to put an aux LED brake light from a bmw police bike below the tag.

interesting. was the 1250 kit worth the effort?
will the new bars require new cables? i sure would like to see it when you get the bars mounted.

Haven't done anything too custom yet, just been adding and changing a few parts..

So far.. Aileron grips, swing arm pivot bolt covers, smoked indicator lens caps, coolent hose cover, black side covers and valve caps..

Waiting for fender base plate, sissy bar and rack (sissy bar and rack will only be on the bike when I need to carry luggage for over night stays)..

Planning.. Looking for someone who can do "black chrome" for some bits (if you know of anyone let me know :) )..

I will probly need to trim the new bars down 1" to maintain existing cables. On my be the bars changed out with no mods required.

And bigger is ALWAYS worth it.....................lol :diablo:

I've taken it very slow in my first month of ownership, adding (only) 2 heat shield screws (same one kept falling out); H-D's chrome headlight visor (looks great); and H-D's "Nostalgia" rubber hand grips (I like the old-fashioned raised center contoured grip)

You said that you installed the 1250 SE Big Bore kit, was there a big enough differerce to make it worth the $3K? Also, what kind of pipes are you using? :popcorn

TX_VRod
05-16-2005, 10:20 PM
there are only stock pipes available at this time (not including v-mods to stock pipes.)
and it didn't cost me $3000. Long story, but I got a deal to good to pass up.

Dealer got the Race Tuner working and completed out the Big Bore yesterday and I rode the Street Rod home last night, Took it easy. It was runnig a little hot. I Mod'ed the the pipes and it sounds much better and hopefully will help it flow better. I pulled the top and have a SE high flow filter to let it breath in better.

I installed the windvest I had on my "B". It mounts right up like it was made for it. I will ride with it and without and see the difference.

I need to install the VibeRider in the pillion tonight for ROT Rally next week. ( This is a vibrator that I hook up the the rear coil and give a very INTENSE Vibration to the passenger, providing miles of smiles :lick: :boobs: )

The WindVest mounted right up and I have posted some pics in the Gallery. Air was hitting my helmet right at vent level, but blocked majority of wind off my torso.

The Big Bore is running STRONG. I had to mod the pipes, because it was running hot, probly due to stock pipes choking the engine.

ent to Bike Night at a place in San Antonio last night and got a ton of looks by both the Sport Bike crowd and the Cruiser Guys! The best were the women who got off the significant others bike and stopped and looked at mine. Apperently people have been reading the reviews and are excited about the Street Rod. Have a look on the Gallery for my Shark Rod.

You need to contact SuperTrapp on your set-up. Looks like you already have the R&D out of the way.
Where did you get the Exhaust headers? Did you have them made to mate up with the 2-into-1 collector? Very trick. It looks like you could use any preformance Can fitted onto the collector, a site called www.speed-point.com in germany has a simular set-up using a MotoMaxx Can Sweeped up. I am very interested in that look.

The Super Trapp is totally stock for the V-rod.

That is correct but it's not totally stock for the Street-Rod! It looks like they kept the same mounting points on the frame so the SuperTrapp bolted up. The only down side would be a loss of lean angle.

NOTE: This is not me or my bike, it's chopper-vrod1 and his bike

Supertrapps aren't "Stock" on any H-D bike!

The Supertrapp's replace the stock mounting plate with one of their own design. If the D&D's use the stock V-Rod mounting plate then it's unlikely they will fit on the Street-Rod without some modifications.

Only had it a week now but, first things first, replaced grips with HD Aileron grips and Braided Stainless Steel Coolant Hose, Headlight Visor, Cam cover medallions and Pivot Bolt Covers, today added Front Axle bolt covers and Base Plate and Mini pillion Backrest, and 20 of the nut covers so far..Note :slap: the Mini Backrest is intended for a V-rod baseplate not a Streetrod Baseplate..But I like the T shaped unit and the slight stacked look actually works..for me at least. :ride:, I will try and get some pictures and post..soon as I figure out how everything works here :banghead: ....David.

I like pretty much my black R as is. I may darken it even more. I'm keen to all black theme on FXDX and FXSTB. Of course bit more punch don't hurt either so I may end up to add fueler to run topless. Maybe FXDX shocks to lower height.

chopper-vrod1
05-29-2005, 06:39 AM
Someone was proposing Ohlins rear shocks he said i could have short ones. Waiting for my 200 tyre, I think the back end lowered with this tyre look perfect but worried about losing the precise handling of the original shocks. I will explain the 800 euros for the powder coating of the wheels, 4 new wheels bearings 200 . Labour 200 actual coating 400. If you were willing to take the wheels off and remove the bearings and source the bearings from a motor factor, I would think the job would come in under 400 euros.

WipeOut
05-29-2005, 06:59 AM
The problem with lowering the rear is that it will reduce your lean angle and change the front end geometry a little which depending on your riding style may or may not be a problem..

As for the powder coating.. I will probably only look at in the winter because I don't like having the bike off the road during the riding season..

Before the winter installed:
-RH 2-1, SERT and topless mods.
-Sundowner seat package.
-braided coolant lines and chrome cover.

Like Matrix, this is my first winter with the bike.

-Completed the brake pedal relocation mod (moved it down).
-Added passenger peg mounts from an "A" (mount on swing arm).
-Had some parts chromed...upper belt guard, brake caliper screens, right side foot peg mount, shifter frame bracket, kick stand, and passenger peg mounts.
-Installed chrome horn cover with water temp gauge mod.
-Swapped sprocket cover assembly (got a deal on eBay) with older style (Harley Davidson insert instead of black plastic).
-headlight visor.
-air box cover bra.
-chrome side covers with scoops.
-signal relocation kit.
-chrome radiator grills.
-chrome lower belt guard.
-Heavy Cycles "V" tail light on order.
Still in the process of installing stainless bolt kits and oil pressure gauge.

Can't wait for the shoulder to heal and get back aboard the Rod!!! Still have about 3 months to go:banghead:

Started with a Mirage Orange 2007 R

DX top risers, top clamp and instrument cluster. The R instruments are mounted in the DX cluster.
Flanders 27 inch drag bars with 18 degrees of pullback, knurled and dimpled.
'06 front brake hose.
VRSCX wind deflector, replaceable in ten minutes with a Supersport Windshield from a VRSCA.
Sundowner seat
Sport Saddlebags, those black cordura things, but removable in five minutes when not commuting on it
Hard saddlebags from a VRSCA, the mounting hardware was heavily modified to use the mounting points for the Sport Saddlebags, making them removable in five minutes. I only use these for long trips. Credit goes to Earl Burley for this conversion. Nice work too.
VRSCA aluminum air box cover, tightly covered in black vinyl with a Marsee 20 liter tank bag attached. Saves scratching the beautiful painted lid with my tank bag or riding suit. A local upholsterer did the cover, and it's flawless.
3M clear protectant film on the upper frame rails near the seat to prevent scuffs. Works great!
DX rear brake caliper and separate mounting bracket, makes removing the rear wheel easier, needed a different right side outer spacer to make this work.

And currently in work.....
XR-1200 wheels. I finally figured everything out and corralled all the parts in the same zip code. It will be in Earl Burley's shop while I travel next week. The front wheel is a direct swap using a 25 mm XR front axle ( same part as an '08 V-Rod ) but I have to use VRSCX brake discs. The rear wheel might be a spacing chore. The biggest problem was figuring out which combination of front and rear pulley's and how many teeth the belt should be for the size of the rear tire and how all this affects gearing. I am ending up with a 30 T front pulley, a 68 T Japanese market rear pulley and had to have Mr. Congeniality at Supermaxx cut down a stock R belt to 1 inch wide to fit the Sportster rear pulley. Fun, and expensive!

For the future....
Wilbers shocks in a custom length, to regain the cornering clearance I will loose with the smaller diameter wheels.
When the 30K mile fork oil change is due I will take the bike to Race Tech for a Gold Valve and Cartridge emulator. Might do Wilbers fork springs at that time.

Every single mod is done for improved function and comfort. Not one item of gingerbread.
Btw, that German R is simply awsome.

Well had mine almost 2 years now, got the exhausts upgraded to Supertrapps since they sounded a bit wimpy standard. Also got PCIII and air filter upgraded.
Got all the bare aluminium painted silver or powdercoated black since i hate polishing/cleaning. Added vented side covers since i didnt like the horizontally slashed covers. Also got front(hottopper)/rear axle covers and swingarm covers, hottopper covers for all the visible nuts and bolts, also to save on cleaning.
Coolant hose cover + LED tailight w. turn signals is in the mail also considering chrome cover for tail light.

The previous owner upgraded the seats to Sundowner, the mirrors to Buckshot, the brakehandles to slotted, the grips to centerline, smoked out turn signals, added a chrome rear fender and small sissybar.

I am considering a complete bodykit from Franklin so i can get my friend to do custompaint and cut back weight a bit more, also maybe get the crankshaft upgraded so the bike gets more oomf from standing and it raises the overall horsies (but this is a pricy upgrade). This and i have had the Arnotts suspension in the back of my mind for ages. Keep missing the group buys or they happen at times i cant justify the purchase.
When i win the lottery ill go for a supercharger and stuff so i can really smoke ye olde crotchrockets.
Anyone with a supercharger/turbo gathering dust is free to PM me maybe we can work out a deal i just cant afford the 4k asking price (maybe half price or so).

So far thats about it dunno what else to really upgrade.

Here's mine after 3 years tinkering. Would love to have corbin smuggler to finish my tail section but can't justify the 799 sticker price for it. Ohlins/works rear shocks would be nice too :D

Awsome tailsection, is that all made by hand or did you get a kit upgrade? Im looking to remove the horrible back fender with something like yours and i must say thats the coolest i´ve seen so far =)

any update on the motor work? What happens if you have to grind on the balance shaft(take the humps down) are you going to have it re-balalnced? Why did you go with the carrillo rods if you don't mind?
