Did the 1000 mile "critical fastener" torque check today on the R. Found the header nuts to be quite loose, couple of loose exhaust shield bolts, and the nut thats supposed to be tack welded to the radiator cover bracket was spinning free. Also found the bolt at the head and the cooper connector nut were both loose for the battery ground cable.

A little lock tite remedied most problems, a little Quik Steel fixed the bad weld, added some protective covers to the fuel lines and to the coolant hose to the recovery tank.

Preventive Maintenance now hopefully means trouble free rides later.

A question, too. What is the purpose of the big o-rings on the velocity stacks? They certainly don't seem to be any kind of vacuum seal.

It's always a good idea to go through the fasteners after you break in a new bike anyways, everything's been heat cycled and stuff like header bolts and nuts could use a twist, bearings seat in, etc..

I think the o-rings hold down the bolts incase they loosen and don't end up down the stack?????????? I'm guessin' but who knows...
