Do you guys have any recommendations in regards to cleaning the R? I am new to Harley in general so I would really appreciate any recommendation as to how to keep my new baby working and free of corosion.

Here is what I do (Coppied from a one of my previous posts).. Hope it helps..

Rinse the whole bike with a hose to get rid of the dust and grit..
Completely spray the bike with Autoglym Motorcycle cleaner..
Sponge down everything from top to bottom (even under the rear fender and in front of the rear tyre on the swing arm and underneath the bike)..
Rinse completely with the hose again..
Dry with the leaf blower..
Dry whats left with a chamois..
Apply Autoglym resin polish to all paint work..
Polish all ally with Autoglym metal polish..
Polish all chrome with Harley chrome cleaner..
Stand back and stare..

I have always used the spray-on motorcycle cleaners and just hosed them off followed by a leaf blower to get off most of the water and a microfiber cloth to finish the job. Unlike WipeOut, I only use elbow grease if the bike is particularly dirty.

I wax the paint once a year and have found the Honda aerosol spray polish to be the best for occasional touchups when I don’t' want to wash the bike. The Harley Glaze is also an excellent product.

I came off of full coverage sportbikes and was amazed how easy it is to keep a fully exposed Harley clean and shining.

Alan,
I use the touch up cleaning method quite a lot too like if I have been out on a Saturday and then am heading out again on a Sunday I will give it a touch up clean to get rid of all the bugs on the front end and road grime off the wheels but even if it looks clean after a good wash and polish it looks so much better..
In my eyes anyway, but I am a bit of a perfectionist.. :)
