Harley's online genuine accessory site listed rear rack part number 51210-05
as an R part when I first purchased the bike. It didn't fit. I assumed I needed the adapter plate, ordered that and they're not compatible. Now the online site doesn't list that rack as one for the R.

Does anyone have a rack mounted? I would like to be certain what works before I order anything else.

In the meantime, I discovered that the tank bag cut for my dualsport tank fits the shape of the Street Rod perfectly, doesn't look too cool but is very functional.

Took a spin to the Oregon coast with it today, heavy mist/light rain at the coast, who woulda thunk it? Heres a coupla pics:

Note in parts info says regular racks fit. I mounted one and it fit fine. :)

Now the online site doesn't list that rack as one for the R.Harley updated the web site about 2 weeks ago and I noticed the same thing. Last week I had my dealer set aside the following:
Fender Base Plate Kit 51156-06 $ 99.95
Luggage Rack 51119-01A $110.95
Low Sissy Bar Upright 51162-06 $ 59.95
Passenger Backrest Pad 53762-06 $ 69.95

The rack fits the base plate kit. I assume with an 06 part number the base plate will fit my Street Rod when it arrives in two weeks.

The neat thing about the luggage rack is that it mounts on the base plate so you can add or remove the luggage rack as needed once the base plate is installed. Just four screws in the baseplate.
