: Are there any exhaust systems out yet?
hiwyvindicator 05-01-2005, 02:14 PM Hey Guys, has anyone seen or heard about any exhaust systems out for the streetrod? I'm dying to get the stock system off the bike. I talked to joker machine the other day and they are waiting to get a streetrod to use for fabrication. I guess the major problem would be the clearance from the rearset. I'm wondering if that would also apply to slip-ons as well since the headers should be the same as on the v-rod. I saw another thread where someone already has a supertrapp on his streetrod. Any info would be great. Thanks!
rjrivero 05-01-2005, 04:03 PM V-Mod is modding R Pipes......otherwise I haven't seen anything R specific....yet
TX_VRod 05-02-2005, 11:42 AM give it time. I know that D&D will be doing R&D on a system in the next couple of months. Give it a little time........................
hiwyvindicator 05-02-2005, 11:56 AM I know it is a matter of development time when a new model comes out, I called most of the aftermarket companies already and they are all waiting to get a streetrod in the shop to begin the protype phase. I'll be patient but it does suck to wait. This bike needs to have a nasty rumble to it in order to match its performance level. I can't wait to modify the bike to see what it can do!
You would think that the MOCO has a SE version for the R already. (I would like the same as the stock look only a little shorter see pics)

I am a NOOB at Pshop, :helpme: but you get the idea.
The question remains though, are they going to release it, do a hundered people have to show interest before the MOCO will release it :banghead: ??? I am sure it will be out soon, but do not want to wait :popcorn till calender year 06.

How come you use Image Shack to host your Pictures, Half the time it wont work for me. Why not upload them to this forum?
WipeOut 05-03-2005, 03:01 AM Can't say I like the look of shorter pipes.. Maybe the same length but with a slash cut or something along those lines..
My bike arrived with a nasty scratch on the slip-ons.. My dealer is swapping them out for me.. I asked them what they were going to do with the old set and they said they were sending them off to an exhaust fabricator who is going to make up some louder slip-on's.. I doub't they will do much for performance and my guess is that there is a good chance the bike may actually loose power if the fabricator isn't really good..
Anyway will let you know when I do about the progress..
guybrownlee 05-03-2005, 06:07 AM I have seen how easy it is to cut the baffles out of a Street Rod. As the end is not "slashed" like the A model you can use a steel hole cutter straight on. It cuts the whole big end of the baffle out.
The other side is "press" fitted so you just put a piece of strong dowel in the hole and :bash: . The baffle is exactly the same as the A model inside, EXCEPT, there is NO outer baffle. What you have is effectively a hollow pipe! Feedback is that its too noisy and extremely "fluffy" in the midrange.
What is now being done is drilling more holes (a lot more) in the baffle that was removed and it will be refitted (remember its a press fit on the small side) and the big side will be welded.
Sorry no photos of the baffle when it was out but I will try and get some when its been welded back.
The removal is 70% easier and quicker than the A model. :2cents:
WipeOut 05-03-2005, 08:27 AM If that all there is to it you could probably quite easily weld in a disk with a few threaded holes and then drill some holes in the baffle plate so it could easily be installed and removed as often as you like to allow you to adjust the sound till you get what you are after..
SuperKaz, First off welcome back, :welcome: missed ya.
Did you ever mount your third eye bar end mirrors?
And can you give us a sneak peak as to Gil's evil doings? :sinister: Enquiring minds want to know... :popcorn
You said earlier that you modded your stock R pipes, but found them to make more noise than power, are you trying another mod on them?

werewulf 05-05-2005, 06:24 PM in my opinion, the stock R pipes sound a lot like the SE pipes did on my vrsca. im anxious to hear what GUYBROWNLEEs project sounds like. this would be a good mod if you are trying to preserve your extended warranty like i am. i drilled half inch holes a half inch appart on the end of my vrsca pipes and it sounded pretty good.
