Mine evidently didn't get hooked up at the factory. You might want to check yours. It's a brass colored tube at the left front side of the air box cover. Mine was bent to the side missing the rubber fitting entirely. When they put the airbox bottom down on the throttle bodies they missed the breather fitting. I first noticed oil droplets on the top of my horn cover and eventually oil ran all over he motor from the top down. It looked worse that it was though. I'm just glad the baby is back in commission. :ride:

Maybe that is what happened to mine... just picked it up from the dealer on Monday and yesterday, after a 50 mile ride, oil was all over the place.

Oil level was also probably at fault. Even after all the oil it dropped, level was above MAX!

The dealer picked it up today... hope they fix it and not make it worst!

Damn...

Let me know what they find out. Although the level was maxxed I'm still betting it was a breather problem as well.

Yep... a breather hose in the very back of the air box was loose. The dealer replaced the clip-clamp with a screw-clamp.

Picked the bike up yesterday after work. Only rode from the dealer to home and it seems to be OK, but I'll only know after using it some more during the weekend.

Went for a ride yesterday and at my first stop the rear of the bike was all covered in oil again.

Seems the screw-clamp screwed the hose (pun intended). I even expressed my concern this could happen at the dealer but he was "positive" the screw-clamp was the right thing to do.

Oil level is still high! After the dealer said they had fixed that too.

This is not just annoying. This is downright dangerous. The rear brake and tire are sprayed with oil! Talk about the dangers of riding a motorcycle.

Damn! I am feeling like the dumbest a$$ for spending my money on this bike. I am seriously considering returning it...

RVZoo, Let the dealer try to fix it again, if your not satisfied, find another dealer. You should have some concern, however the fix is a fairly simple one.

As far as the oil level being to high; are you checking it Hot and straight up (not on kickstand)? If the answer to these questions is yes, then instead of releying on the dealer to do it, simply do it yourself. Just siphon some out of the top through the dipstick hole till you get to the correct level.

Learning how to take care of your machine is half the fun of owning one... which I am sure many others here will agree.

V/R,
Nick

Yep, I am pretty used to do all the maintenance on my bikes (the Street Rod is the 5th in my garage). Having the right parts, the fix would not take more than a few minutes. Half an hour at most. But since this is such an expensive bike (the priciest of the lot) I expect the dealer to at least make it right to begin with. From a customer standpoint, I am not willing to do it myself. If the dealer can't stand behind the product he is selling, he'll have to take the bike back.
I will give him a third chance to make it right (setup and first fix were the first two). But if he doesn't, I'd rather spend money on a lawyer... is a matter of principles...

Granted, I'm not you, but I don't get it. Dealer done flunked the test. No way would I let something I could fix get in the way of enjoying my new ride.

Thats one of the reasons I am freaking thrilled to have found this forum; get to learn how to maintain the bike that I am more excited about riding than anything thats come down the pike in years. Thanks to the internet I've learned to work on shaft drive, chain drive, rebuild forks, change my own tires, rebuild carburetors, troubleshoot electronics and lovin' every minute of it.
Now I'm learning a bunch about EFI, belt drive and more things Harley. It don't get better than this.

I might be wired in reverse polarity, but the dealer gets to see it after I've f...ed it up 12 times first, and that ain't happened yet.

Well, finally the dealer sent a mechanic to my place to replace the airbox. The clamp they had put on literally shredded the breather hose. And the hose is part of the airbox... So they replaced it.

I haven't had the opportunity to try it, but I will during the weekend.

Mine is still doing fine after the fix.
