Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

I am curious to see what other SCR owners (orderers) are paying or getting qouted for the bike Out The Door ??

For a reference Mine was $16,700 OTD for Black with no options.

Mine was the 16495 (Black) plus the F&P which is around 285. As a lifetime hog member I also took advantage of the 1k in free accesssories. BTW I've been a customer at my dealer for 31 years so he pretty much takes care of me.

I'M CONFUSED! Is that the TOTAL OUT OF POCKET PRICE?Or the Base Price+Tax+setup=OTD Out the Door Price.I Got mine for $16,400+ Delivery and Setup. Now it was from California so I did Not pay Tax till I register it her in LasVegas"I have 30day Temp"so thats another 7.5%! :banghead: :barf: +Registration! :deal:

Our out the door pricing does NOT include tax. In MO you pay that when you register the bike. So the price I quoted includes the bike, freight, setup and document fee. And the 30 day temporary tag is also included.

RI06SCR
03-25-2005, 04:52 PM
Correct .... This is not including TAX & REG

Just the bike, doc fee, & destination fee

OTD means everything needed to ride the bike away. Meaning fees for any setup, destination, freight, registration and taxes. Otherwise it is not OTD.

OTD pricing depends on your state. In Florida, if you are a resident, the dealers are required to collect the tax and register the bike so the OTD price is all inclusive.

The laws differ in many states but some also require that sales tax be paid locally, especially if you pick it up yourself and don't ship it. In Florida the taxes paid out-of-state can be applied to the Florida 6% sales and use tax so you don't pay twice. That's not always the case in other states. I don't know if you can take delivery of a bike here in Florida and not pay sales tax.

This happens every time we have one of these "What did you pay" threads. OTD means something different to everyone. If you were to walk into a dealership expecting to pay "List Price" it would break down like this for a black VRSCR. (most dealers order the security system so I included it to keep the calculations the same)

MSRP $16,495.00
Security $275.00
Freight $235.00
Setup $350.00
Subtotal $17,355.00
Tax+Tags $1,106.20
OTD $18,461.20

If you are like me and will consider paying MSRP but typically refuse to pay setup and freight then it would look like this.

MSRP $16,495.00
Security $275.00
Subtotal $16,770.00
Tax+Tags $1,106.20
OTD $17,876.20

Quite often you'll see adds for V-Rods (B models) at $15,495. Here's what that usually means to get it out the door

MSRP $15,495.00
Security $275.00
Freight $235.00
Setup $350.00
Subtotal $16,355.00
Tax+Tags $1,046.20
OTD $17,401.20

Now, a real $1000 off deal would be as follows.

Sale Price $15,495.00
Security $275.00
total $15,770.00
tax $1,046.20
OTD $16,816.20

No this is not bs in MO where our store is. We do not and cannot collect tax money at the dealership. It is against the law for us to do so because the customer has to go to the Department of Revenue to register the bike. None of these things can be done at the dealership. If you are out of state then you still pay any registration or taxes where you live. Sorry, but I'm pretty sure I know how things work where I live Kaz. Could be completely different where you are just like it is across the state line in KS. They do charge sales tax at the time of purchase. That is why a lot of KS people buy out of state. They get 30 days to pay their sales tax instead of doing it on the spot.

Yes thats how it here in Vegas .They wanted $2500 more here so I bought it from Len at Folsom/Rockland HD and they Had it delivered.I did not have to Pay sales Tax"Out of State' Till I register it here in Vegas.I got a 30day Temp that I'm riding on now.If I bought it here'in Vegas" before it leaves the DEALERSHIP all Fees must be Paid! :broke:

Prices range from $17,500 with no money down or $18,700 after an $1800 down payment here locally, depending on which salesman you talked to. This prevented me from buying an R on the 29th of January. Now that the $1,000 HOG offer is over with. I'll just wait see how prices are after the initial wow factor.

Damn I wonder if I got that $1000.00 thing. I just got my V in febuary. I went with the lower percent interest rate, no money down, and extended 3 year plan. I dont remember anything about $1000.00 off MSRP. Then again they did drop the price on the bike to meet my payment plan I wanted. I live in GA but have my home of record in South Dakota "I'm military USAF" so they didn't do anything with the tax title tag bit. They just sent me all the paperwork and I sent it to my home town to get it done. I also had the dealership kick me back $500.00 for tax, title, tags, it cost me $486.00 for everything in South Dakota 3% tax. The bike ended up costing me like $16,500 something out the door. So in all actuallity I paid $16,000. I thought I got a good deal. Who knows maybe I got robbed. I happy with her so thats all that really matters.

I just bought a black VRSCR two weeks ago and it cost me 17550 out the door. Which includedeverything I needed to ride the bike home. Listed as follows: tax, title, switching plates(Virginia), set up, freight($235), factory security system($275). MSRP for the black bikes is $16495 and 16740 for all the other colors. So, if you are getting $21k for a price you might want to run like hell!!! That's one enormous mark up. Keep in mind that there are MSRP dealerships and there are market value dealerships(which are out to make a big chunk of change on every bike they sell. Hope this helps.

I still don't understand why anyone else would care about what you paid "out the door". Motor vehicle fees and sales tax vary so much that you could live in a state with no sales tax and pay more for your motorcycle than someone 5 miles away in another state who has to pay sales tax. Comparing "out the door" pricing wouldn't reveal that you should have driven 5 miles to save money. If I am missing something here, please tell me. I think the only number that matters is what did you pay your dealer for the motorcycle. Whether or not you should move out of a high tax state like I live in is another issue.

I picked up my R yesterday. Cash price of motorcycle: $16,097

That is the value calculated at signing to give me the promised Out The Door cost of $16,245 after license fees were added. They knocked $250 off of MSRP for waiting several weeks for my bike to arrive. There were no other setup, freight, or additional fees of any kind.

I wrote a check for $16,436 and that bought the black rear rack and the service manual at a 10% discount.

Just a data point for everybody shopping around, except for Super Spaz you can KMA for telling me I was full of BS when I first posted the deal I was getting.

Picked up my bike here in Illinois yesterday. When I first walked in they quoted me something like 21k which was ridiculous. After talking to the sales manager they offered me $ 17,428 OTD on a yellow R including security system (i.e. includig tax, title license). No way though to get them to include the 1k mile service or something like that. Got two free T-shirts tough ...
