Just been cleaning the bike and noticed some makring starting to show in the rims, I can only assume that its not clear coated.. Then I looked closely at the triple tree's and noticed some marking starting there too..

I don't want to start attacking all the ally with ally polish because of its abrasive qualities that will make a clear coated surface look terrible..

So what is clear coated and what isnt?

Rims - NO
Triple Tree - ??
Engine Covers - ??
Swing Arm - ??

The only thing cleared on my 02 was the lowers.

I am pretty sure they not going to clear coat the swingarm or engine covers...thats why they sell chrome.

Yea, I like chrome because its easier to look after and looks good but I like the look of polished ally as well so I will have a crack at polishing it up and see how it goes (Can't really afford any chrome right now anyway after buying the bike. :) )

Hi Wipeout.....I look forward to reading your findings...tho im still waiting for my bike to arrive, i have been wondering about those wheels/triple trees...im not sure whats best, coated or not...My dad has a new Yamaha Warrior, it has polished wheels coated with clear laquer...looks good until you look closely and then you spot the polished alloy underneath the coating is starting to faintly corrode, eeeeeek......now, if they wasnt coated, at least he could easily buff the faint corrosion out.

Check your owners manual, it should tell you a few things.

I did take a read through the owners manual when I got the bike and didn't see anything in there about the finishes on the bike.. Will have a look again anyway..

Cast spokes are cleared. Rims, triple clamps, engine covers, and swingarm not.
