Just heard from my shop - the HD Big Bore kit arrived today, a little over a week after the order was placed at the show. The heads are being sent out for diamond cut http://www.vrodracing.com/Information/Articles/VRodEngine/2005VRodEngine/2005VRodEngine056.jpg
and the engine is already apart as seen here(http://www.vrodracing.com/Information/Articles/VRodEngine/2005VRODWInterWork.htm) - so the cases will be shipped out tomorrow. Now I have to make a decision on the gears (backcutting and then order the new shift drum and shift forks this weekend. I will start the season with the straight set up with SE VMods and then possibly move to 58mm throttle body and maybe other pipes. Plus looking to put the DYMAG carbon fiber wheels on.... this should be fun...... KSP

Kevin:
Congratulations on finally getting inot the BB game. I will be interesting to compare experiences now that you're "upgraded". I wonder if Larry will follow suit. Too bad tyuo won't be coming down for the AHDRA stuff 3/3 - 3/6. Of course your plans just might change since there will be MANY new V-Rods ready to take the class title.

Regards.

The AHDRA program doesn't work for me - time to travel - i.e. national instead of regional and the know holds barred heads up class - cost way to much for too little in return. I did like my first adventure there except for sitting in the rain and no race after spending a weeks vacation and probably $1,000 to do the trip - convinced me to play NE US only. How is that BB working out for you - I haven't heard an uppdate lately.... you doing the annual Bike Week report this year.....

And I have no clue what Larry has been up too.... saw him at the track a couple times - he ran early and then hasn't been back to race - and he was really fast for not doing it all the time... Larry are you out there.

Yea my BB is doing REAL WELL!! I am always looking for a little more power and have been up to "the shop" recently. I got them to go over everything to be sure it's still working well from their point of view and change and check the oil for any foreign stuff. All is well.

I haven't heard form Larry either in a great while.

While I was there, I go to see a stock rental V-Rod that they go into the 120 hp range with a PC, K&N and some bigger injectors. INTERESTING !!

I also got to ride the new 2005 V-Rod R see my write up in the forum General Section AND Max is helping me to down load about 16 pictures (close ups) of the bike and it's features. To me it's going to hurt the Buel (it looks like a V-Buel). Good for carving canyons and spanking rice rockets. The new front end is trick as are the brakes.

Tripp is putting together a whole new ride this year. It looks neat but is in a ton of pieces with only 6 weeks until Gainesville.

Please let me know how I can help your BB project and we will stay in touch.

BEST WISHES

Jerry

I wonder how many Screamin' Eagle 1250 VRSCR's are in the works besides mine. My cases were sent off the Kansas City to get bored out for the sleeves on Monday. I picked up the pipes today to "Mod" them and then I plan on getting them ceramic coated black leaving only the forward heat sheilds chrome. (It is a Black "R")
Still need to buy the Race Tuner, but have a little time left for that. I'll run topless with the K&N.
We shall see...................hopefully it will be ready in 3 weeks.

Question, should I V-Mod the "R"s pipes or leave them stock with the Big-Bore? There are no aftermarket pipes available yet, so I don't want to hose the only pipes I have and it hurt the power band. Or will it make it perform better?

My choice would be to leave them, I don't think they are that restrictive so are probably not limiting you much if at all..

I am going by the shop today to see if the cases are back from Kansas City. I would really like the bike to be done by next Saturday. I need to break it in before Republic of Texas Rally.

V-Mod the pipes, they will at least sound better, even if they do not increase performance.

VRTURK, Kevin - Thanks for the info...

Kevin: Life is good down here, summer seems to be kickin' on forever, waiting for the rains to come so I can pull this bike off the road for more than five days at a time and get some serious work done :sinister:
Winter should be comming on soon and just had the brain tickin over before the pull down. (Which way should I go :banghead: ???) Gunna big bore the rod but not sure as to how big as yet :hmm:

I posted a few pics in the Gallery of the Scremin' Eagle Street Rod. I had to mod the pipes, because the stock pipes were choking the crap out of the engine. It has seemed to help. I am running topless and the CVO maps from the R/T.
