Does any one know the spec of the std drive belt?
Has anyone ever managed to break one?
What is the most power you have put through a std belt?
Has anyone used the belt under race conditions?

What spec are you looking for?

Maximum torque or HP rating I assume. Sorry, I don't know myself.
Plenty of us have used std belt for drag racing with mild mods, about 110-115 hp, and had no problems.

Paul I have heard that the belt is good to 150hp but some have been pushed over that point on a limited basis.

Thats a good question paul, i am not sure.
At the KC plant we seen some new belts, and i think someone mentioned they were stronger than the STD belt, they were using them on the SE models.
If my memory has'nt failed me

Thanks Guy's, I just wondered y'know.

I have never heard or read of a belt breaking yet everyone seems to change them to go racing.

Max, is that road usage?
If any one else has any ideas or facts, please contribute. ;)

I don't really know what measure would be used in belt terms, breaking strain in lbs or kg mebbe?

But if you have actually raced a belt with no trouble that's pretty promising.
It would be unusual for HD to use anything that wasn't overdesigned.

We have Harley belts(which differ from aftermarket belts) on bikes with over 140 lbs. of torque for more than 3 years with several drag strip passes on street tires and NEVER broke one. The torque output is harder on belts than HP. Rider clutch management is the single most cause of belts braking.

I remember talking to the CVO guys Shawn. We asked about the belt because they had an orange Screamin Eagle stenciled on them. We were told that the VRSCE belt is 2.5 times stronger than the stock belt. Seems like overkill but cool none the less.

Thanks Paul, do you have a part number perhaps for a suitable belt? :thumb:

I had heard 1.5 times as strong, but nonetheless, it's pretty damn strong! Probably handle a lot more torque than 99.9% of the bikes here (I think Kaz = 0.1%)

Rick, can you please get me the part number for the strongest belt option that HD offer (for 28t), I asked my local dealer what options were available & he looked at me like I just got off the last spaceship. Cheers.

A belt change is equally quick if you just take out the LH bottom shock bolt, for me it's about keeping my matched pulley & wheel. I like show & go. :thumb:

Thanks Vinny, any idea how the spec of this belt is different or how it's tensile strength is rated?

That's internal MoCo info, they rarely release that type of info.

What do they call this belt, SE? Heavy Duty? or some such.
