Hello All,

I'm a fresh member, and was wondering if anybody can give me advice on the "absolute & "definitive" combo package pertaining to my V&H Black Widow Slip-on exhausts.

I'm Looking for the Ultimate performance and exhaust note (sound) from my exhausts, but I have no clue which Fuel Pack/ Power Commander, chips, maps, etc- that I need.

Please advise on the best of the best; and no, money IS NOT an issue, so kindly advise on even the more expensive but better technologies out there.

Serious Help here needed from the Night riders on 1130cc community!

Thanks Fellas', and God Bless ALL..

P.S. Bike- Night Rod Special 2k8
Exhausts- V&H Widow Slip-ons
Screaming eagle Power Commander currently equipped.
and Current Map is stock map provided with exhausts.

Mastertune will provide you all the tools you need to properly tune the bike in any configuration. The exhaust note will be whatever exhaust you choose to use. Our tuning system comes with base calibrations that should be very close right out of the box but with a laptop and a little time from you or your tuner it can be dialed in completely. The Auto tune part of Mastertune called Vtune will get the fuel dialed in for you as long as you can follow the instructions included with the kit.

Go read the general EFI section, there are several options to choose from.
I don't know that anyone could say what the perfect setup is, or even what the best setup is. They range from "workable" to "pretty darn good", beyond that, you have to decide what's right for you, and what you have planed for your bike.

Someone in the Toledo Area with a Closed Loop ECM buy one of these and let's run this thing through it's paces.......PLEASE!?!?

Thanks for the input Steve, Malcomx,

I get what you said, but due to my lack of technical knowledge (which you'll have to excuse and bear with), I wont really understand much of what I may or may even not come across...
A friend of mine (also a fresh member) posted a question along the lines of mine, and forum dudes went right for the "sweet spot" and provided the spot-on combination. Something like thundermax, blah blah blah. (you get the idea)

Malcolmx, I know there are several options out there as nothing can officially be dubbed as best or worst or whatever, but for the sake of simplicity, and sheer stupidity (lol...mine :banghead:) I will implore you to provide , maybe not the best, but one hell of a kick ass combination package. And only you guys can do it..!

Thanks again fellas', and God Bless All.

alot of people use the PCIII and screaming eagle race tuner SERT and they like it. you will be able to go to a dyno and get it custom map for your bike. the quality of the map will depend on the quality of the guy behind and dyno. or you can use a general map with these (gets it close) but IMHO do it right or not at all. the only problem is that if you change anything like pipes or internal work you will need to get a re-map on the pcIII or SERT. alot of guys are going to the t-max. it is auto tune so there is no dyno. you riding around is the dyno. and most claim it makes your bike run better than a PCIII, SERT or factry ECM when stock. also if you change anything it will make another map. many ppl switch pipes often and love the t-max for this reasion. but this is still fresh product and is causing issues with some riders but not all. AS said above go to the EFI section and do some of your own reasearch and then decide what is best for you
Good luck and :vrodforu::vrodforu:

If you don't want to fiddle with whatever you install then there are fewer options. I'm going to assume you want the bike to tune itself. For top performance with the least amount of effort (after the install), the ThunderMax is probably the way to go. There are other options, and they all fall into the $600 to $800 range, and they all seem to work well, but the ThunderMax seems to be the most robust solution. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the subject will chime in.

88,X, thanks...!! Now we're talking..!

I guess it roughly breaks down to 2 major ideas: (correct me please)-

1-If I don't intend on fiddling around and swapping exhausts much, then PCIII or SERT is the way to go, keeping in mind that these must include a fixed map that is pretty much solid if all else is unchanged.

2-Second option (and seemingly most probable) would be the much talked-about Tmax where all can be tinkered with and where I, the rider, serve as the main dyno test via riding and constant tweaking.

Sweet...!was a little  at first, but post your advice, I feel like throwing you fellas a :grouphug

A few quick questions though X,88; and do pardon the idiocy-

What is, if any, the difference between a power commander and a race tuner? Also, please elaborate a little more on SERT, PCIII, and IMHO. This will simply gear my research towards more accurate results.

And finally, since I have no frikkin clue what sort of map Harley has installed on my bike for the V&H widow slip-ons, is it accurate to assume the map was provided by the exhaust manufacturer themselves?

Thanks again fellas, i'll follow your advice and be sure to update throughout my experimental procedure.

Thanks, and God Bless All,

P.S. 88, thanks for the welcome. I thought upon registering, I would be doing alot of :notworth:, get no feedback, then resort to frustrating :lamer:, start throwing:soapbox:, get :spank: for it, duck and :hidesbeh:, and finally welcomed enough to claim :them:. Here's hoping I dont say anything stupid and get :slap:.

from what i have gathered through the time, the PCIII is a piggy back, it plugs into your computer system and just piggybacks more fuel to your bike. the SERT if im not wrong plugs into your computer, the guy will re-map your bikes factory ECM. and i dont know the exact numbers but i think the PCIII has and again cant recall the exact #s but the PCIII has around 500-600 points of adjustment and the SERT has 900 or so. i think thats close but not sure if thats right. im sure some one will chime in if its wrong. but i do know that the SERT has a few more points to adjust in the RPM range for fine detail. the t-max has about 2000.

and yes i think you can get a general map on your bike with the exhaust but those are made for any bike at any altitude, i think.(they will get you close but they just make sure you dont run lean) to get full performance you can pay $200 ish (give or take depending on your area) to have a guy dyno tune it. (for but PCIII and sert)

also the PCIII if wet will cause problems. most v-rods put them (i think) in the air box or close it to keep water away. but if they get wet they could fry and let you sitting. (this is much much much more common in the airheads bikes than the v-rods). also if you get a PCIII you can use a map posted in the STICKY part of the PCIII section. members post there maps they like or had dyno tuned. if you could find your setup you could go that way. BUT JUST REMEMBER THAT NO MEMBER IS LIABLE IF IT MESSES YOUR BIKE UP/USE UNDER WARNING) most are good though.

this help at all?
if im wrong someone set me strait.
