Ok , where do i start ? (nuts and bolts)

stock DX seat , fine but wanted a little more leg room so had some foam removed from the rear of the seat to sit further back.

this worked fine , but after an hour or so in the saddle got sore tailbone !

so purchased a gel insert had this inserted into the seat by a motorcycle seat guy (180mile round trip in the car) but now it feels like i'm sitting on a "step" as the seat pan does step upwards to cover the "electrical pod" which contains the ECU/small fuse box and alarm etc...

so with the gel inset hurts more and quicker ?????

what do i do ? i don't want to sit further forward as this now feels strange , and all the posts i read seem to recommend the "sundowner" or "tall boy" but both sit up higher and nearer which is the oppersite to what i wanted which was lower and further back !

is there something i can do ? or is it a case of building the foam back up to miss the "DX ledge" and sit further forward ?

going away in 4 weeks ! and after today i'm gonna be in agony ! and this is from a guy that has done 800miles in a day on an R1 ! ! ! !

help or suggestions please ?

This is something I really want to have done (except with satisfactory results of course)

I think you need to take it to a different seat guy, or maybe to a real seat guy and let them unfocker it.

Tallboy doesn't move you closer, it puts you further back. It is higher(thicker) to get you back over the hump a little more. It's only for the 02-06 bikes as far as I know.

I think I have permanent tailbone damage from many miles on the stock DX seat. Man does that hurt or what?

All I can say is the sundowner has completed cured this problem. I may be wrong but it's not any higher than stock but moves you slightly closer due to the awesome built in backrest. Now if you go with a three inch forward controls extension you'll have two extra inches of leg room. Just an idea.

in all likely hood you need some foam either under or over that gel to make it more level or at least ease it over the "hump"... and probably need some memory foam not just the regular kind.. just thoughts i am in no way a professional

thanks everyone !

looks like the sundowner is the way to go ? tallboy not listed for my year bike 08 DX ?

the hump is the issue and its sitting on foam then gel pad then another layer of foam and to look at and feel is very smooth , just that when 18stone is placed upon it ! your arse feels that "ledge"

i already have extended forward controls and would prefer to be more scretched out but , i'd rather have a "unsore" arse when i get off the bike !

so i would ask the seat guy to replicate the sundowner seat, as i do not fancy sitting higher up like on the "tallboy"

it looks like to me you either have a seat that sits you on top of the hump or in front of the hump ! ! ! what a design ????
