Well - I've had a good couple of weeks with back to back event wins at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. Last week I set up to run for speed and ran all time best with 11.35 @ 115.62 MPH. This week with major cross/headwind ran 11.43- 11.45 @ 114.xxMPH . I had been struggling with red lights during the end of the season (rooling out .02 to .03 faster than normal) - had the clutch changed (it had some warped plates) and the roll out problem was fixed and even running the new LED the tree came up nothing but green since. Well that may be it for this year as I will be out of town the next few weekends = It was good to close out the season with some wins. One thing I must say - this bike is impressive - with over 12,000 miles and over 500 passes it has never missed a single race or even a run - now that is reliability - and with the exception of replacing the clutch once a year there has been no other internal engine repairs, We will be tearing it down completely this winter and checking it out - we will do some work on the tranny, and probably do the heads, cams and increase throttle body - wheels and new exhaust (to reduce weight) and try to put it into the tens. By my way of calculating I vcould get it into the 11.2xx as is with good end of season weather conditions - 11.35 was run on a 1.695 60' and the bike will do low 1.6x with the right launch.... good for an additional .08. We will se what we can do with it over the winter.....KSP

KSP,

Way to go! We just can't help always wanting to go faster. You've done very very well. Congrats.

Thanks Paul - I have come to recognize that going faster is a black hole - 10.84 has been my goal from the beginning - it will come - hopefully next year - but I am also going to be trying to perfect the consistency - my other goal is to make it a consistent as the drag bikes - stutter box and push button launch setup will also be incorporated into our setup. Kaz - it is that 12,000Miles/500 passes and over 100 events without ever a problem - batting 1.000 I am absolutely certain that a Turbo - as with nitrous you can make the HP - the issue is keeping it together for one, consistant for another - I have alternative ride that is good for low 10s with simple setup - nines are a no brainer with a little bit of effort......I will keep plodding along - you know the Hare and turtl thing sometimes it works - but I will be watching you all play with those things to see how they work out - I have tracked a number of them on busa's at the track and they have certainly demonstrated their ability to produce massive HP and consume lots of parts while endangering the lives of their pilots - but in the 8s at 166...... who would have ever thought it possible. Keep me informed with your progress...KSP

Good job Kevin,
My 04 VRSCB is running very consistent 11.35 to 11.50's but last week at Rockingham I advanced the timing and ran 11.20 with 106 octane gas, I had to retard it to get back to 11.50 for the index in the SEP class.
Good Luck

Hi Kevin,
You caught me goin out the door but heres the scoop. I use a H-D race tuner and advanced it to 31 degrees you may be able to get by with 33 degrees.
I'm off to Vegas BYE BYE!

Was it a blanket advance throughout the range - maybe you can send me a copy of the before and after advance curves. It would make for some interesting dyno comparisons - with and without the fuel change. We need to compare notes this winter as we put next years setups together.
