Hello all, I bought a V-Rod without a key and I will order a new key tomorrow after I get my title from the seller. Harley indicated it takes 2 weeks to get it made.
I want to go ahead and pull the seat up and open up the cover to inspect all the wires, pull the spark plugs and inspect the cylinders, etc. air filter, throttle body, etc.
Is there a location under the seat where I need to go to unlock the seat tab? And if you know how to do it and what tools I need to do it. It sure would be nice to be cleaning up and getting it ready for when the key arrives.
Thanks

Hello all, I posted on the "How To Forum" on how to open my seat without a key. Long story short, I have 2 weeks until the H-D key arrives and I want to inspect under the air box.
Can anybody give me instructions on how to do it or am I just plane outta luck?
Thanks all and have a wonderful day. GB

Should be able to reach up under the frame/seat and grab the cable and just give it a little pull. Thats how I get into mine all the time as I moved my Key up front.

Between the gas tank and key switch you should be able to feel a cable (similar to throttle cable). You'll need to tug on the cable with a pair of need nose pliers and it should release the seat. Good luck.

Thats how I open mine every time I fill up. With my fingers. I moved my Key switch to the front of the frame and just left the cable there for the seat. I put a ring on the end of it and it stays tucked under the frame. Its easy as sin to open, but if you don't know its there, leaves you scratching your head :)
