G'day from Down Under, I'm wanting to purchase a V-Rod stateside within the next year and have, I think, just two questions relevant to the seats so far.

1. The pics of the Street Rod indicate that the frame is different to the Night Rod, as is the seat and ride height (some of which is from the increased ground clearance); and the tanks appear from the pics to be different, too; so, any chance that the tank on the Street Rod is larger? Yes, I know the Harley site says they're the same size. :banghead:

2. Because the gas tank on the V-Rods is under the seat, is a larger tank (and a seat to accomodate it) for any of them, available from any source?

Thanks in advance! Cheers. :D

HI! I think you are confusing the air box cover with a gas tank. The gas tank is under the seat and is 5.1 gallon on the newer models. 3.7 gallons on the earilier vrods but you can buy a larger aftermarket 5.1 gallon tank, I think you probably heard about this already, its been rehashed over and over here. there are dozens of after market seats , you can find out about them here also. try the search feature on top of page...some guys also attach a small keg type tank on the luggage carrier.. where theres a will there is a way, most every add on is available you can find most everything here....hope that helps a little.....

Thanks for that quick response!

I do know that the V-Rods have an airbox masquerading as a gas tank. :) And I did mention in my original posting that I realise the actual gas tank is under the seat. That's why I posted with the seats, realising that a larger tank there would require a change to the seat.

So I'm still wondering, and perhaps someone would i.d. the previous threads about bigger tanks and I'll have a wander through them. Ta.

I'm not sure what year it changed (07 maybe?), but the D's used to have a smaller tank (3.7) and the R's were 5 gal stock. They are not interchangeable. The newer models all have 5 gal tanks.

There are two options for aftermarket tanks, both have their merits and issues, but I would ask that you just PM me to get the details as this is a rather volatile subject (no pun intended). :)
