i tried one on a several hour run, and the thing was awful, maybe i had it adjusted wrong or something but my butt seemed worse that having no pad on at all. kept adding air but that didn't help at all. any help or experiences with those seat pads appreciated.

I have one now as the stock seat is the worst of any bike I have ever owned (36). I run the air pretty low and it makes it bearable up to 200 miles. W/O the pad I am hurting from a buzz that shoots through my cheeks that is painful as hell! I wonder if it is my Rod (03') or all of them?

I've been using one for 10 years now for long trips only and it is a butt saver. All my friends that have tried it now own one.
The trick is to not put too much air in it and it self ajusts when you sit on it. Kind of feels like sitting on jello.

I have the Air Hawk on my 03 100th anniversary edition. Have gone 500 miles in a day. Works great.
Two suggestions. 1. don't over fill, the less air the better. 2. c-cross the straps under the seat to hold it to the seat to keep it from sliding.
The air holes on the sides will keep the sweating down in your seat. No monkey butt, and it's about half the price of a new seat.
