I just picked up a new stock seat off ebay, but unfortunately the seller cut off the small retaining ring mounted on the front seat that holds on the retaining cable that keeps the seat from opening too far. He also kept the cable itself. I got the seat cheap enough so would rather repair it than make an issue.
Anyone have any suggestions for repairing it? Also is there a part number for just the cable?

The "lanyard" as HD calls it is PN 52402-01 for an 06.
I would assume something like this would be the same for all bikes. May not be, but it looks like it would.
I also saw some plastic coated picture frame hanging wire at a hardware store, I don't know if that would do you any good or not. Just a thought

Thanks Jeff, with that part number I can at least have the cable. Now to figure out how to attach it.

Now to figure out how to attach it.Not sure if this will help but I made a small bracket for my Corbin seat that allowed me to use the OEM seat lanyard with the threaded insert and screw that Corbin uses. Not sure if you can see in the attached image that it's made from 1/16" SS sheet with a cross section that looks like: ŻŻU with a hole drilled in the bottom of the "U" shape for the lanyard and another hole in the straight section for the screw.
